Hello, I'm John. I'm a Senior Information Analyst with 3 years of experience. I enjoy writing complex SQL & designing aesthetic dashboards. I specialise in Power BI.

About me

After graduating with a masters degree in Aerospace Engineering, I decided to pursue my passion for data. I taught myself Transact-SQL, Power Query & Power BI. My favorite part of being an analyst is the problem-solving aspect. I love the feeling of finally figuring out a solution to a problem. My core stack is SQL, Excel, Power BI, Metabase and Python. I am always looking to learn new technologies, recently I have been experimenting with LLMs using OpenAI API. I am not actively looking for a new role but I am open to full-time position as a Data Team Leader.

When I'm not diving into data, I LOVE travelling! I have visited 15 different countries so far! I also enjoy watching movies, hiking and flying my drone. Check out some of my photos here!

Senior Information Analyst

I'm now a Senior Information Analyst. I lead a small team of analysts to leverage all of their technical skills to turn raw data into actionable insights to help the trust continue to provide outstanding mental health services. My primary focus is to implement the use of Power BI across the trust, this will in turn free up analysts time to create more insightful and predictive analysis.

In Dec 2021 I was promoted, in this new role I focused heavily on Power BI. I utilized Power BI extensively to create dashboards with high impact visuals to showcase key data trends. I also played a key part in automating and improving existing processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.

Following my passion for data I joined the healthcare analytics team. In this role I created and submitted mandatory & statutory reports to NHS England weekly. I was also learning how to write complex SQL to complete ad hoc data requests for various stakeholders.

In Feb 2021 I was promoted, in this new role I line managed booking officers and made key decisions on how best to utilise resources. I was also tasked with creating reports to identify gaps in staffing & potential cost saving measures, this is what initially sparked my passion for data.
